12/16/2023 0 Comments Precision colors pro 100I don't know why Jose speaks so highly of them. I think the PC inks for the Pro-100 were rated at something like 2 megalux and the OEM at 60 megalux which something like a difference in 58 years give or take. The Pro 100 is so inexpensive, that solution would be no problem really.Īctually, Aardenburg Imaging has done extensive testing on PC inks in their current form and found them to be highly fleeting in their permanence. IF you do both types of printing, then purchase two separate printers, one using 3rd party inks and the other OEM. If you need long term preservation of important family or art work, OEM. If you are printing for volume- short term use such as posters advertising events -3rd party inks are the way to go. It is a unscientific test, and other more rigorious testing would give an indication of what is causing the fading - ozone, UV, paper combinations.īut, what I have thought about using third party inks is the same. These recent fading results are a bit surprising considering the high praise Jose gives to PC inks. At this point, nobody should be surprised by the outcome you have because we have talked quite a bit about it here. Having said that, you get what you pay for and I have come to grips with what those inks are. Other than sunlight, the air in your place can have significant impact on your prints. I did use cheap Costco paper back then but I see a decent paper like Pro Luster seems to have little effect. Our friend Jose defending PC tooth and nail saying he never saw any fading from his prints. I did this same exact test maybe 5 or 6 years ago and it created a firestorm here. Glad to see almost nothing has changed with PC inks. I only used Canon and Precision Color, the samples I got from Octoink was faulty, as the blacks did not absorb into the paper. Have a look, and judge for yourself, I see the same result as Soren Result, PC ink is the big loser, I only use OEM afterwards. Two prints of each combination, one set for an east facing window sill, and one set for the drawer. I too, has done an unscientific fading tests during the last months, ridiculous, as it was wintertime = Not much sunshine. Purely anecdotal and proves nothing, but just saying! Gentle morning sun through an east facing window. On the other hand I have prints under glass on my walls from my Pro 100 using PC inks that show little to no sign of fading after five years. How many print makers store or view prints on their car dash? Each to their own, but decidedly strange in my view. sounds good can you put a print on the car dash and let us know how long it lasts without fading Ive had enough of reprinting images from fading. (I do print with OEM to clients:-) )Ĭost for 8x2oz bottles, eq. Next is test of longlivety/fading, I do not expect the OEM values, but at the price, print another for yourself when the old is degrading. Just recieved the 2oz set of Precision Color Signature ink for my PRO-100, and what a relief! One can hardly see any difference between OEM and PCS, and the best: Black is absorbed correctly
